C. J. Box is an American author of suspense novels, thrillers, and short stories. He is best known for his Joe Pickett series.
Box was born in Casper, Wyoming, and grew up in the small town of Kaycee. He received a bachelor’s degree in English from the University of Wyoming. He has worked as a ranch hand, surveyor, fishing guide, and a newspaper reporter and editor. He now lives in Cheyenne, Wyoming, with his wife and two daughters.
Box’s first novel, Open Season, was published in 2001. It introduced game warden Joe Pickett and became a New York Times bestseller. Box has won the Edgar Award, the Anthony Award, the Macavity Award, the Barry Award, and the Prix Calibre 38 (France) for his work.
The Wolf Pack was written by George R. R. Martin to be used in the role-playing game Advanced Dungeons & Dragons.
