Hugh Fraser was the protagonist of the Three Act Tragedy, a mystery novel by Agatha Christie. Fraser was a successful playwright who was invited to a weekend party at a country estate. During the course of the weekend, two people were murdered, and Fraser used his knowledge of the theater to help solve the crimes.

In the story, Poirot is invited to a dinner party at the home of Sir Bartholomew Strange, where he is introduced to the other guests: Miss J. Henderson, Mr. Shaitana, Canon Pennyfather, Mrs. Ariadne Oliver, and Colonel Race. During the dinner party, Shaitana suddenly dies of poisoning, and Poirot is called upon to solve the mystery.
During the course of the investigation, Poirot discovers that each of the guests had a secret that they were hiding, and that each of them had a motive for killing Shaitana. In the end, Poirot reveals that it was Miss Henderson who killed Shaitana, in order to keep her secret safe.
