The Story of a New Name is the second book in the Neapolitan Novels series, written by Elena Ferrante. It was originally published in Italian in 2012, and has been translated into English. The story follows the lives of two friends, Lila and Elena, as they grow up in a poor, crime-ridden neighborhood in Naples, Italy. As they enter adulthood, their lives take different paths, and the novel explores the themes of love, marriage, motherhood, and female friendship.

This novel earned the second spot on the New York Times Bestsellers list for fiction.
