Rumfoord crash-lands on Titan, one of Saturn’s moons, and is taken prisoner by the aliens who live there. The aliens force Rumfoord to live in a time warp, in which he experiences all of human history at once. Rumfoord eventually escapes from the time warp and returns to Earth, where he tries to warn humanity about the impending destruction of the planet. The novel is considered one of Vonnegut’s best works, and has been praised for its satiric and darkly humorous portrayal of human society.
