The Silence of the Lambs is a 1991 American psychological horror thriller film directed by Jonathan Demme and starring Jodie Foster, Anthony Hopkins, and Scott Glenn. Adapted from Thomas Harris’ 1988 novel of the same name, the film follows Clarice Starling, a young FBI trainee who is tasked with interviewing Hannibal Lecter, a brilliant psychiatrist and cannibalistic serial killer, in order to glean information that will help the bureau catch another serial killer, known only as “Buffalo Bill”.
The Silence of the Lambs was released to critical acclaim and box office success. It is considered to be one of the greatest films of all time. The film won five Academy Awards, including Best Picture, Best Director, Best Actor, Best Actress, and Best Adapted Screenplay.
