Bernard Cornwell is a British author of historical fiction. He is best known for his novels about the Napoleonic Wars, which began with the Sharpe series. Cornwell has also written several other series, including the Starbuck Chronicles, the Warlord Chronicles, and the Saxon Stories. His most recent series is the Chronicles of Azincourt.
Cornwell was born in London in 1944. He grew up in Essex and attended the Royal Grammar School in Colchester. He then studied at the University of London and the University of Winchester. He has worked as a teacher, a journalist, and a television producer. He now lives in the United States with his wife, the novelist Deborah Moggach.
