The series that I am proposing is a series of articles on the history of the English language. I am a linguist by training, and I am interested in the history of the English language from its beginnings in Anglo-Saxon England to its development into the modern day. I hope to trace the development of the English language through its various stages, from Old English to Middle English to Early Modern English and finally to Modern English. I will also discuss the influence of other languages on the English language, such as French, Latin, and Dutch.
The One and Only Ivan is a children’s novel by Katherine Applegate. It is about a silverback gorilla who lives in a shopping mall with his best friend, a stray dog named Bob. Ivan is content living in his enclosure at the mall, but when he meets a new elephant named Ruby, he starts to question his life and what it means to be human. With the help of Bob and Ruby, Ivan starts to see the world in a new way and finds the courage to stand up for what he believes in. The One and Only Ivan is a heartwarming story about friendship, family, and finding your place in the world.
