Muriel Barbery is a French novelist and philosopher. She is best known for her novel The Elegance of the Hedgehog, which has been translated into over 40 languages and sold over 3 million copies worldwide.
Barbery was born in Casablanca, Morocco in 1969. She grew up in France and studied philosophy at the Sorbonne. After graduation, she worked as a journalist and translator.
