Gary Taubes is an American journalist and author. He is the co-founder of the Nutrition Science Initiative, a non-profit research organization, and the author of several books on nutrition and obesity, including The Case Against Sugar, Why We Get Fat, and Good Calories, Bad Calories.
Taubes began his career as a science writer for Discover magazine in the 1980s. He has written for a variety of publications, including The New York Times Magazine, Science, and The Atlantic. His work has been anthologized in The Best American Science Writing.
In the early 2000s, Taubes began to focus his writing on the science of nutrition and obesity. His article “What If It’s All Been a Big Fat Lie?” published in the New York Times Magazine in 2002, was a groundbreaking critique of the prevailing nutritional wisdom that blamed dietary fat for obesity and heart disease.
Taubes’s work has been instrumental in shifting the scientific and public consensus on the causes of obesity and chronic disease. He is widely credited with popularizing the low-carbohydrate, high-fat “ketogenic” diet as a means of treating and preventing obesity and chronic disease.
The series of work that will be written is a collection of essays exploring the relationship between humans and animals. The essays will focus on the ways in which humans and animals interact, the ways in which they are similar, and the ways in which they are different. The essays will also explore the ways in which animals can be seen as symbols or metaphors for human characteristics, experiences, and emotions.
The case against sugar is strong. It is a major contributor to obesity, diabetes, and heart disease. It is also addictive, and its overconsumption is a major problem in our society.
