Marko Kloos is a German-American author of military science fiction. He was born in Germany and moved to the United States with his family when he was a teenager. He enlisted in the U.S. Army and served as a paratrooper in the 82nd Airborne Division. He was deployed to Iraq in 2003 and 2004. After his military service, he attended the Iowa Writers’ Workshop. His first novel, Lines of Departure, was published in 2014. His second novel, Frontlines, was published in 2015. He is currently working on his third novel.
The series of work that will be written is a collection of essays that explore the intersections of race, class, and gender in the contemporary United States. The essays will be grounded in critical race theory, feminist theory, and Marxist theory, and will aim to shed light on the ways in which these three social categories structure our lives. In particular, the series will focus on the ways in which race, class, and gender intersect to create unique experiences of oppression and privilege.
The Terms of Enlistment series is set in a future where the military uses soldiers who have been genetically modified to be stronger and faster than normal humans. The soldiers are known as “augments.” The series follows the augments as they fight in a war against an alien race known as the “Chitet.” The series is told from the perspective of various characters, including a young augment named Andrew Grayson.
