The book follows the story of Drizzt Do’Urden and his companions as they continue their quest to find the lost city of Mithral Hall. They are joined by the dwarf Bruenor Battlehammer and the elf-woman Catti-brie. The group is pursued by the orcish army of King Obould Many-Arrows. Along the way, they are joined by the halfling Regis and the drow ranger Belwar Dissengulp. The book culminates with the final battle between the orcs and the dwarves, in which Bruenor is killed and Drizzt is gravely wounded.

The Streams of Silver paperback was published by TSR in 1989. The hardcover edition was published by Wizards of the Coast in 1999.

Reception

In the December 1989 edition of Games International (Issue 3), Martin R. Collcutt praised the book, saying, “This book is one of the best yet. Quite simply, it is class, and follows on perfectly from The Crystal Shard.”

In the April 1990 edition of Dragon (Issue 158), Lester Smith was less impressed, saying that the book seemed more like filler for the series than an actual story. “It is a reasonable story, but not a great one.” Smith concluded by giving this book a rating of 2 out of 6.
