Robert R. McCammon is a horror fiction author who has written numerous novels and short stories. He is best known for his novel Swan Song, which was nominated for the World Fantasy Award. McCammon was born in Birmingham, Alabama, and attended the University of Alabama, where he received a Bachelor of Arts in English. After graduation, he worked as a journalist for a short time before moving to New York City to pursue a career in writing. McCammon’s first novel, Baal, was published in 1978. He has since published over a dozen novels, including The Wolf’s Hour, They Thirst, and Usher’s Passing. McCammon has also written several short stories, which have been collected in two volumes, Darkness, Descending and Midnight Promises.
