From a young age, Dean M. Cole was fascinated by the dark and macabre. He was especially drawn to the works of Stephen King and H.P. Lovecraft. As a teenager, he began writing his own horror stories. His first published work, “The Call of Cthulhu,” appeared in the anthology Tales of the Cthulhu Mythos (1969). Since then, Cole has published numerous short stories, novels, and non-fiction works on the horror genre. He is also a respected authority on the works of Stephen King. In addition to his writing career, Cole has also worked as a librarian, bookseller, and editor.
The Solitude was written during the author’s time in quarantine.
