The Say Nothing is a novel by Patrick Radden Keefe about the Troubles in Northern Ireland. The novel tells the story of the abduction and murder of Jean McConville, a widowed mother of ten, by the Irish Republican Army in 1972. The novel also tells the story of the Belfast Project, an oral history project at Boston College that was intended to document the stories of former members of the IRA and other paramilitary groups during the Troubles. The project was controversial, and Keefe tells the story of how it came to be, and how it ultimately led to the arrest of one of the participants, former IRA member Dolours Price.
