Larry Niven is an American science fiction writer. He is best known for his Ringworld series, as well as for his novel All the Myriad Ways. Niven has won five Hugo Awards and three Nebula Awards.

There is no set series of work that will be written, as the goal of this fellowship is to allow the writer flexibility to explore any topic related to the experience of being a person of color in the United States. However, some possible areas of focus could include personal essays about race and identity, pieces on the intersections of race and other aspects of identity such as gender, sexuality, and class, or reported pieces on race and politics. Ultimately, the hope is that the fellowship will allow the writer to produce work that is both honest and illuminating about the complex reality of race in America today.

The Ringworld is a fictional artificial world, a megastructure that completely encircles a star. It was first described in Larry Niven’s science fiction novel Ringworld (1970), which won the Hugo Award for Best Novel in 1971.

The Ringworld is constructed in the shape of a ring approximately one million miles wide and with a circumference of approximately 600 million miles. The ringworld has the appearance of a ribbon or band when viewed from the outside. It is habitable on the inner surface, with an environment similar to that of Earth.

The ringworld is stabilized by means of a structure known as the ” instability strip”, which is located at the outer edge of the ring. The strip is anchored to the inner surface of the ring by a series of pillars, and is subject to periodic episodes of instability which result in the formation of new landmasses.

The inhabitants of the ringworld are humanoids known as the Ringworlders. They are a technologically advanced civilization, and are able to harness the energy of the star that the ringworld encircles. The Ringworlders have a variety of different cultures and religions, and are engaged in a number of conflicts with one another.
