One Second After

Joe Barrett is the main character in the book “One Second After”. He is a widower and father of two daughters. He is a professor of history at a small college in North Carolina. When an EMP destroys the world’s electrical grid, he must find a way to protect his family and survive in a world without power.

The One Second After series belongs to the post-apocalyptic genre. William R. Forstchen is the author of the series.

The story is about a man named John who lives in a small town in the United States. One day, a mysterious event occurs that causes all electronic devices and machines to stop working. John soon realizes that the event was an electromagnetic pulse (EMP) that has destroyed the electrical grid and plunged the world into a new Dark Age. As John struggles to survive and protect his family in this new world, he must also grapple with the question of what caused the EMP and whether it was an accident or an act of war.
