Old Bones is the first book in the Special Agent Pendergast series by Douglas Preston and Lincoln Child. The book introduces Special Agent Aloysius Pendergast, a FBI agent with a background in anthropology, who is called in to consult on a case involving the discovery of human remains in the small town of Humpty Dumpty, New Mexico. The book follows Pendergast as he investigates the case, with the help of local sheriff, Naomi Jennings. As the body count starts to rise, Pendergast and Jennings realize that they are dealing with a serial killer, and race to catch the killer before more people are killed.

Old Bones was originally published as a serial in The Strand Magazine from September to December 1881, and was then published in book form in 1882. The story is narrated by an unnamed doctor who is called to the village of Little Walsingham to treat the Reverend Septimus Harding for an injury. While there, the doctor becomes interested in the case of an old woman, Mrs. Lirriper, who is said to be a witch. The doctor decides to investigate the case and soon discovers that Mrs. Lirriper is not a witch, but is in fact a very powerful psychic.

The characters in Old Bones are all very well developed and the story is very suspenseful. The ending is particularly surprising and unexpected.

Old Bones inspires listeners by sharing stories that are relatable and offer a new perspective. The music is also catchy and easy to sing along to.
