Aoife McMahon is a secondary character in the novel Normal People by Irish author Sally Rooney. She is a student at Trinity College Dublin and a close friend of the novel’s two protagonists, Marianne Sheridan and Connell Waldron.

Marianne is a wealthy, beautiful, and popular student, while Connell is working-class and shy. Despite their differences, they develop a close friendship. However, when Connell’s mother becomes ill and he has to drop out of college, their relationship changes. Marianne begins to feel guilty about her own privilege, and Connell becomes increasingly resentful.
The story culminates in a break-up, after which Marianne moves to New York to pursue her career. Connell remains in Ireland, working as a janitor. The story is told from their alternating perspectives.
