Janet Evanovich is an American author of romance novels and mystery novels. She is best known for her Stephanie Plum series, which follows the adventures of a former lingerie buyer turned bounty hunter in Trenton, New Jersey.

Evanovich began her writing career in the early 1980s, penning romance novels under the pseudonym Steffie Hall. She made her mystery debut in 1987 with One for the Money, the first book in the Stephanie Plum series. The series has been tremendously successful, spawning twenty-three sequels (as of 2019). In addition to the Stephanie Plum novels, Evanovich has also written several other mystery series, including the Fox and O’Hare books (co-authored with Lee Goldberg) and the Lizzy and Diesel books.
