David Foster Wallace was an American writer. He is widely known for his 1996 novel, Infinite Jest, and his 2005 novel, The Pale King. Wallace was a prolific writer, publishing essays, short stories, and novels throughout his career. He won numerous awards, including a Pulitzer Prize for Fiction and a MacArthur Genius Grant. Wallace also taught creative writing at the University of Arizona and Pomona College. He died by suicide in 2008.
