The characters in House of Suns are unique in that they are all clones of a single individual. This allows for a lot of interesting plotlines and interactions between the characters.
I’m not sure who this is, but if anyone could make this character work, it’s John Lee (who I’m assuming is a voice actor). The character is described as a “cocky, smart-talking android.” That’s all I’ve got.
The Scavenger of the House of Suns (voice, inspiration…)

John Lee Hooker was born on August 22, 1917, in Clarksdale, Mississippi. After a short time in Memphis and a stint in the Navy, he moved to Detroit in 1946. He recorded for the first time in 1948 and became a fairly popular performer, especially with his 1950 hit “Boogie Chillen”. In the 1950s, he toured with other blues musicians such as Muddy Waters and Jimmy Reed.
In the late 1950s, Hooker experimented with electric blues and recorded with other musicians such as Earl Hooker, Eddie Taylor and Clifton James. In 1960, Hooker recorded the album The Big Soul of John Lee Hooker. He soon began touring Europe and the United States, and in 1968 he toured with Van Morrison. Hooker recorded a number of albums in the 1970s, including Hooker ‘n Heat with rock band Canned Heat, and in 1971 he played at the Fillmore West with Miles Davis.
In the 1980s, Hooker toured with Bonnie Raitt and George Thorogood, and also recorded with Steve Miller and Los Lobos. Hooker won a Grammy Award for Lifetime Achievement in 1991, and in 1992 he was inducted into the Rock and Roll Hall of Fame The book was nominated for several awards, including the Arthur C. Clarke Award and the Locus Award for Best Science Fiction Novel, and won the British Science Fiction Award for Best Science Fiction Novel.
The prose is beautiful, and the world-building is incredible. The book is complex and ambitious, and it is clear that an immense amount of research went into it. The characters are interesting, and their relationships are believable. The plot is well-paced, and the ending is satisfying.
