Jim Butcher is an American author best known for his Dresden Files series of urban fantasy novels. The series follows the adventures of wizard and private investigator Harry Dresden as he navigates the supernatural underworld of Chicago.
Butcher began his career writing the Dresden Files as a self-published novel in 2000. The series proved popular, and Butcher soon began shopping the book around to publishers.
