Amy Harmon is an American journalist and author. She has written for The New York Times, Wall Street Journal, and other publications. Her first book, The First Family (Simon & Schuster, 2016), is a biography of the Obama family.
There is no set series of work that will be written, but I anticipate that the topics covered will include: an exploration of the role of the artist in society; a consideration of the relationship between art and politics; and an examination of the ways in which art can be used to promote social change. I hope to use my own experiences as an artist to shed light on these issues, and to offer some insight into the motivations and challenges of those who choose to pursue a life in the arts.
From Sand and Ash is the first book in the series of the same name. It is a story about a young woman, Ash, who is trying to find her place in the world. She is a member of a clan of nomads who travel the deserts of the world. When her clan is attacked by a group of raiders, she is the only one who survives. She sets out on a journey to find her way back to her clan, and along the way she meets a man named Sand. Together, they travel across the desert, facing many challenges. From Sand and Ash is a story of friendship, love, and adventure.
