The Dead Man’s Walk is a novel by Larry McMurtry, published in 1995. It is the first book in the Lonesome Dove series.
The novel is set in the late 1800s and follows the story of two young Texas Rangers, Gus McCrae and Woodrow Call. The two friends are sent on a dangerous mission to track down a group of Comanche Indians who have been raiding settlements in Texas.
The novel was adapted into a miniseries in 1996, starring Tommy Lee Jones and James Garner.
