He is also a master storyteller, able to keep the listener engaged even when the story is slow-moving.
David Copperfield is a novel by Charles Dickens.
David Copperfield is born in Blundeston, Suffolk, in 1820, to Clara and Edward Copperfield. Clara Copperfield dies shortly after David’s birth, and Edward Copperfield remarries. David’s stepmother, Miss Betsey Trotwood, is a kind and loving woman, but she is also very strict. David attends a local school, where he is bullied by his classmates. When he is eight years old, his father dies and he is sent to live with Miss Betsey.
Miss Betsey sends David to a boarding school, where he befriends a boy named James Steerforth. After a few years, Miss Betekes allows David to return home, where he begins working as a clerk in a law firm. He also meets and falls in love with Dora Spenlow, the daughter of his boss.
However, Dora is a flighty and childish woman, and David soon realizes that she is not right for him. He breaks off the engagement and begins to study to become a writer. After a few years, he meets and marries Agnes Wickfield, Dora’s complete opposite. David and Agnes have a happy and fulfilling life together.
