Jennifer Worth was a British author and midwife, who wrote a trilogy of memoirs about her experiences working in the East End of London in the 1950s and 1960s. The first book in the series, Call the Midwife, was published in 2002 and became a bestseller. The second book, Shadows of the Workhouse, was published in 2005, and the third book, Farewell to the East End, was published in 2009. Worth died in 2011, at the age of 73.
