Anathem

The Anathem is a science fiction novel by Neal Stephenson, published in 2008. It tells the story of a group of monks who live in a monastery on an isolated mountain, where they spend their days studying and debating the nature of the universe. When a group of outsiders arrives at the monastery, the monks must decide whether to welcome them or defend their way of life.

This Anathem earned the fourth position in the New York Times Bestsellers list for Hardcover Fiction.
