John Sandford is an American author of suspense novels, most notably the Prey series. He also writes under the pen name John Camp. Sandford began his career as a journalist, working as a police reporter and later as a features reporter for The Miami Herald. He also wrote articles for magazines such as Playboy and Time. Sandford’s first novel, Rules of Prey, was published in 1989 and introduced the character of Lucas Davenport. The Prey series has since become one of the most popular in the genre, with each new installment appearing on the New York Times bestseller list.

Sandford has won numerous awards for his work, including the Edgar Award, the Anthony Award, and the Minnesota Book Award. He is a member of the Mystery Writers of America and the International Thriller Writers organization.
