Bartimaeus Trilogy The third book of the trilogy, Ptolemy’s Gate, follows the exploits of Nathaniel, who we last saw as a boy in The Amulet of Samarkand. As a young man, Nathaniel seeks to follow in the footsteps of his hero, Simon Lovelace, the magician who vanquished him.

I must say that this book was a great conclusion to the trilogy. The characters were as well developed as in the previous books and the story was captivating. It was nice to see Nathaniel grow up, and even though he did some questionable things, I still like him as a character.

The world that Stroud has created is so rich and detailed, and I love all the little references to history and mythology. I would highly recommend this series to anyone who enjoys fantasy or historical fiction.
