Rick Riordan is an American author known for his Percy Jackson & The Olympians series. He has also written The Heroes of Olympus and The Kane Chronicles. Riordan’s books have been translated into 42 languages and sold more than 30 million copies in the US alone. He is also the author of the Magnus Chase and the Gods of Asgard series.

Riordan was born in San Antonio, Texas, on June 5, 1964. He graduated from Alamo Heights High School in 1982 and then attended the University of Texas at Austin, where he studied English and History. After college, Riordan taught English and Social Studies at Presidio Hill School in San Francisco. He also worked as a technical writer for Chevron and as an editor for Prentice Hall.

Riordan’s first novel, Big Red Tequila, was published in 1997. His Percy Jackson & The Olympians series began with The Lightning Thief in 2005. The series follows the adventures of Percy Jackson, a demigod (half human, half god) who discovers his true identity and must prevent a war between the Greek gods.
