Brandon Sanderson is an American fantasy and science fiction writer. He is best known for his Cosmere universe, in which most of his fantasy works are set. He is also a prolific author of short stories, including The Emperor’s Soul, which won a Hugo Award for Best Novella.
Sanderson was born in Lincoln, Nebraska in 1975. He began writing stories at the age of eight, and finished his first novel at the age of fifteen. After high school, he attended Brigham Young University where he studied English and editing. He published his first book, Elantris, in 2005.
Sanderson is a prolific writer, and his works include the Mistborn series, the Stormlight Archive series, and the young adult Alcatraz series. He has also written several standalone novels, such as Warbreaker and The Rithmatist. In 2013, he was approached by Robert Jordan’s widow to complete Jordan’s unfinished series The Wheel of Time, which he did with the release of A Memory of Light in 2013.
Sanderson is also known for his work in video game development. He has worked on several games, including the popular role-playing game The Elder Scrolls: Morrowind.
