Set in the far future amidst a feudal interstellar society in which various noble houses control planetary fiefs, Dune Messiah continues the story of Paul Atreides, better known as the messianic Kwisatz Haderach and Duke of Arrakis. He is now Emperor of the Known Universe, a position that he has achieved with the help of his sister Alia and his Fremen armies. However, his growing prescience is causing him to become detached from the everyday world, and he is haunted by visions of his own death. Meanwhile, the Imperial government is beginning to crumble under the weight of corruption and in-fighting, and Paul’s enemies are conspiring to overthrow him.
